Berlusconi, blogs and seizures

The prosecutor’s office of Rome has seized the website of the actress Michelle Bonev, who argued that the relationship between the former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Francesca Pascale would be a pretense as the latter has homosexual tendencies.

The choice of the public prosecutor has been criticized as it is contrary to a recent precedent of the Supreme Court, which ruled that only individual defamatory posts should be removed without seizing the whole blogs or websites.

In the instance case, the website of Michelle Bonev also published contents not related with the events of the former prime minister and his fiancée, such as contents dealing with social initiatives.

The decision has been appealed and the Court of Rome will decide whether the provision must be confirmed or dismissed.
